The meaning behind the name
The word lacuna (pronounced luh-KYOO-nuh) comes from Latin, meaning a gap, hole, or missing piece. In anatomy, lacunae are small cavities within bone where living cells reside. In literature, a lacuna is a missing passage in a manuscript — a void that changes the meaning of everything around it.
